Vocational courses are practical-based and sometimes involve work experience placements off site and visits to places of potential future employment for students. Now many of them also include written external exams or assessments.
Students will have the opportunity to visit early years’ settings, for example nurseries, pre-schools and the Foundation stage in schools.
The BTEC level 2 First Award in Children’s Play, Learning and Development delivers a stimulating introduction for students interested in this subject as a career. The BTEC NQFs are designed to provide specialist work-related qualifications in a range of sectors. They give learners the knowledge, understanding and skills that they need to prepare for future employment in the child care sector.
It is designed primarily for students who may wish to explore a vocational route throughout Key Stage 4. Assessment is by external exam (25%) and internal assessments (75%). The internal assessment will consist of both practical and written assignments.
