Fairfield KS3 students were delighted to have an interactive assembly led by Alison and Sue from Canine Partners, who travelled all the way from Winchester. The assistance dogs, Toffee and Yarna, demonstrated how they can help their owners with daily tasks such as going to the shops, putting groceries away, getting dressed, filling and emptying the washing machine and alerting others if their owner has a problem. Students also learned about the vital companionship the dogs give their ‘humans’, and how that helps them feel much more positive and empowered when other aspects of their lives have become difficult or limited. Please watch this space for updates on how Fairfield plans to support Canine Partners in the future.
Many thanks to Sue and Alison for providing a thought-provoking start to our day. You find out more about Canine Partners here.
