We aim to equip students with the computing skills needed to enable them to become increasingly independent and effective users of computers wherever they need to use them.  Everything we use today seems to be described as ‘digital’, whether it be televisions, computers or mobile phones.  What does all this mean and how do these devices actually work?  A range of Computer Science and Digital Literacy skills and concepts are taught at Key Stage 3 and 4 to find out the answers to these questions, and to teach students from Year 7 onwards to stay safe online and to use the vast resources of the internet safely and appropriately.

At Key Stage 4 we offer GCSE Computer Science where students will learn all about what makes computer hardware and software, networks, memory storage, security and laws.  They also learn about computer algorithms and programs and will write their own programs as part of the assessment.

We also offer Cambridge Nationals iMedia at Key Stage 4 which will give students a more creative qualification consisting of both exam and three coursework elements. The course builds on young people’s love of digital graphics and design as well as further exploring web development, gaming and interactive products.
